The Klaus Schwarz Verlag is a German scientific publisher . His program focuses on scientific publications on the Arab-Islamic world and Turfan , studies and Scientific books on Arabic , Iranian Studies , Islamic Studies and Turkish Studies / Ottoman .

The publishing house was founded by the Turkologist Klaus Schwarz in 1969 in Freiburg im Breisgau and has been based in Berlin since 1981 . After the founder's death in 1989, the managing director was the Islamic scholar Gerd Winkelhane. After his death in September 2018, the publishing house was taken over by De Gruyter in 2019 .

An internationally known, extensive series of books by the publisher is the Islamkunde series , which has meanwhile grown to over 330 volumes. After a relaunch in 2018, the series titles are now delivered as hardcover.

In the series Studies on the Language, History and Culture of the Turkic Peoples , scientific works of Turkish origin have been published since 1980.

The studies on the Modern Orient are dedicated to contemporary topics and problem areas in the Near and Middle East.
