Anna Känzig

Anna Känzig (formerly Kaenzig ; born July 25, 1984 in Zurich ) is a Swiss singer and songwriter .

Life

Anna Känzig grew up with her parents and her younger sister Lisa in a musical environment in Meilen . Her father is the photographer Christian Känzig, her uncle the jazz musician Heiri Känzig . She started playing the guitar at the age of five . Later she learned bass and piano . After graduating from the Stadelhofen Cantonal School , she did her bachelor's degree at the jazz department of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), for which she won a sponsorship award. This enabled her to appear at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2009 and to finance her first album Four Acres and No Horse , which was released in 2011 on the Swiss independent label Nation Music.

Anna Känzig also completed her master's degree at the ZHdK. She has been teaching as a singing teacher since 2010 , among others at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich MKZ. She performed at the Festival da Jazz , at Zermatt Unplugged , at Kaufleuten Summersounds and at the Winterthurer Musikfestwochen . In 2014 she was on tour in Switzerland with the musician Tobey Lucas. As part of her current album Sound and Fury , she played a club tour through Switzerland in the spring of 2016, starting with the Albani Music Club in Winterthur, the Schüür in Lucerne, the KiFF in Aarau, Solothurn in the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl and for The tour ends in the Zurich Club Plaza.

In the summer of 2016 Anna Känzig played with her band at the Waldbühne des Gurten Festival , at Vaduz Soundz, at the Feelgood Festival in Niedergösgen and at the Röntgenplatzfest in Zurich. She also appeared at the OneFM Starnight in Geneva, at the final of the Elite Model Look 2016 , and she opened the Energy Air in the Stade de Suisse in front of 40,000 spectators.

In 2019 she founded the duo Känzig & Känzig with bassist Heiri Känzig , her uncle , which is inspired by the Great American Songbook . At the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz it was awarded the first Franco Ambrosetti Award endowed with CHF 10,000 .

Works

Anna Känzig's first album Four Acres and No Horse was released in January 2011. The Zurich film production company Filmgerberei shot a video clip for the single In Your Hands .

In February 2013, Känzig released her second album Slideshow Seasons , which was created in collaboration with producer and musician Luk Zimmermann from the band Lunik .

In 2014, Sony Music signed her. In November 2015 Anna Känzig's first single Drive All Night from her third studio album, which was released in spring 2016, was released. Get Out and Bonnie & Clyde followed as the second and third single . The album was produced and composed together with the music producer Georg Schlunegger from Hitmill . Lars Norgren, who also worked with Swedish pop musician Tove Lo , mixed the album.

In 2016, her song Lion's Heart was the official anthem for the fundraising campaign, every centime counts on Swiss radio and television and Swiss Solidarity . This makes Känzig the first woman to contribute the official JRZ song.
