The Kalanchak Raion (Ukrainian Каланчацький район / Kalantschazkyj rayon , Russian Каланчакский район / Kalantschakski rayon ) is one of 18 Rajone the Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. The central location of the Rajons is the eponymous urban-type settlement Kalanchak .
history
Kalanchak Raion was established in 1939, before the area was divided into Chaplynka and Chorly Raion . After the occupation by German troops, the Rajonsgebiet was incorporated into the Reichskommissariat Ukraine in 1942 and was located here in the general district of Crimea (sub-district Tauria) , district area Kachowka . After the end of the Second World War it came back to the Soviet Union / Ukrainian SSR , since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine.
geography
The Rajon borders the Black Sea and the Crimea ( Isthmus of Perekop ) in the south , is traversed by the North Crimean Canal and the Chaplynka Canal , merges into the Ukrainian steppe landscape in the north and east, resulting in altitudes between 5 and 25 meters and it is shaped by the Black Sea lowlands. In the north-west it borders for a short distance on the Oleschky Rajon , in the northeast and east on the Chaplynka Raion , in the southeast on the Autonomous Republic of Crimea ( Krasnoperekopsk Raion ) and in the west on the Skadovsk Raion .
