The Tschaplynka Raion (Ukrainian Чаплинський район / Tschaplynskyj rajon ; Russian Чаплинский район / Tschaplinski rajon ) is one of the 18 Rajons of Kherson Oblast in southern Ukraine. The central place of the Rajons is the eponymous urban-type settlement Tschaplynka .
history
The Rajon Tschaplynka was founded in 1923, after the occupation by German troops, the Rajonsgebiet was incorporated into the Reichskommissariat Ukraine in 1942 and was located in the general district of Crimea (sub-district Tauria) , district of Kachowka . After the end of the Second World War it came back to the Soviet Union / Ukrainian SSR , at times it also included areas of the Kalanchak Rajon , since 1991 it has been part of today's Ukraine.
geography
The Rajon borders the Black Sea and the Crimea ( Isthmus of Perekop ) in the south , is traversed by several canals such as the Chaplynka Canal , and merges into the Ukrainian steppe landscape in the north, with altitudes between 5 and 35 meters and it becomes shaped by the Black Sea lowlands. It borders in the northwest on the Oleschky Rajon , in the north on the Kachowka Raion , in the east on the Novotrojitske Raion , in the southeast on the Autonomous Republic of Crimea ( Krasnoperekopsk Raion ) and in the southwest on the Kalantschak Raion .
