The Goalie bin ig is a feature film by the Swiss director Sabine Boss from 2014 . The action takes place at the end of the 1980s and shows how the bon vivant Ernst, known by everyone as a “ goalie ”, wants to start over after a year in prison. In the film, Bern German spoken.

After the prison the goalie tries to lead a normal life again and takes a job in a porcelain factory as a warehouse worker. He also meets the waitress Regula for the first time in the “Maison” pub, with whom he falls in love. After a drug discovery, he was banned from the house by the landlord Pesche, but Regula's friend Budi was responsible for the drug depot. At the same time, the goalie is in contact with Ueli again, who gives him 5,000 francs after the first contact, which, however, has to spend most of it on the rent. During the course of the film, Ueli goes into drug withdrawal after a hospital stay. The film always contains recordings from Goalie's childhood that explain the origin of his nickname.

After Regula was beaten by her boyfriend, she leaves him and travels to Spain with Goalie. They live there in a house owned by Stofer, another colleague that he allegedly inherited from an uncle. Regula and Goalie approach each other and fall in love. Shortly before their return trip, Goalie learns that Stofer did not inherit this house, but bought it himself. Back in Switzerland, Goalie learns more about the background to the house purchase that Ueli, Stofer and Pesche were involved in and why he had to go to prison for a year.

In the end his love, Regula, decides against him and he moves to Bern. At the end, the main actor tells in a monologue that he will now take «poison» again at the weekend, but not «greedily», just because it is warm.

The film was produced in a co-production by Zurich-based C-Films AG and Bern-based Carac Film AG at locations in Langenthal and Italy . The title song of the film comes from the band Züri West , the film music was composed by Peter von Siebenthal and Richard Koechli .

Goalie bin ig premiered at the Solothurn Film Festival in 2014.

criticism

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung describes the film as a “lovingly nostalgic tragic comedy” that is more verbose than visually powerful. The Bieler Tagblatt locates “well-composed dialogues” in the film, and the slightly melancholy mood of the novel is well represented. Both the main actor Marcus Signer and the supporting roles are praised by the newspaper. The SonntagsZeitung speaks of a convincing film with an excellent leading actor. The Coop newspaper gives the film the highest possible rating as a masterpiece. Just like the novel, the film is a «jewel». The film could rely on “great character actors”. It is finally a Swiss film that was not "unnaturally written" in view of a possible High German dubbing.

The online portal Cineman gives the film 5 out of 5 stars. The film is described as entertaining and authentic, in which the main character is embodied “grandiose”. Outnow.ch rates the film more critically with 3.5 out of 5 possible stars, the film portal says that the film is “more dry”, it would “occasionally bob in front of it”.

Awards

The film was nominated for the Swiss Film Award in seven categories in 2014 . In addition to the main award for “Best Fiction Film”, the film received the award for “Best Screenplay” and “Best Film Music” and Marcus Signer was named “Best Actor”. There were further nominations in the categories “Best Supporting Role”, “Best Actress” and “Best Montage”.

The film also won the Zurich Film Prize endowed with 40,000 francs and the Bernese Film Prize endowed with 20,000 francs in November 2014 . At the end of the year, the Swiss film critics voted the film the best Swiss film.

At the 2015 Prix ​​Walo , the film prevailed against the Grüninger and Der Kreis files and won the prize for “Best Film”.
