Fiordaliso (* 19th February 1956 in Piacenza as Marina Fiordaliso ) is an Italian pop singer . She was best known for her hit Non voglio mica la luna (1984) and several participations in the Sanremo Festival .

Career

Beginnings

Fiordaliso studied piano and singing at the Giuseppe Nicolini Conservatory in her hometown of Piacenza. She became a member of the Bagutti Orchestra and recorded her first pieces with this group. As a solo artist, she took part in the Festival of Castrocaro in 1981 with the song Scappa via , where she took first place ex aequo with Zucchero . Her victory enabled her to participate in the Sanremo Festival in 1982 , where she did not make it to the final with the song Una sporca poesia . The next year she took part in the festival again with Oramai , which earned her the critics award. In the autumn of 1983, her debut album Fiordaliso was released on the Italian record label Durium .

breakthrough

In 1984, Fiordaliso's biggest hit, Non voglio mica la luna , co-written by Zucchero, was released. The song reached fifth place at the Sanremo Festival in 1984 , made the singer known in Spain and Latin America and was also the name of a new edition of her first album to which this piece was added. The album was also released under the name Yo no te pido la luna , a version in which some songs were sung in Spanish. In the summer of 1984 Fiordaliso released the EP Discoquattro and in 1985 her second album A ciascuno la sua donna , with songs written by Zucchero, Vasco Rossi , Fabio Concato and Enrico Ruggeri , among others . Her live album Dal vivo per il mondo followed an international tour .

In 1985 and 1986 the singer took part in the Sanremo Festival again with Il mio angelo and Fatti miei . In Spain and Latin America, further albums, some in Spanish, were released in 1985 and 1986. In 1987 Fiordaliso's self-titled album came out, the last album under the Durium label. Then she switched to EMI , where a selection of her songs appeared first with Io… Fiordaliso and then from 1990 to 1992 the albums La vita si balla , Il portico di Dio and Io ci sarò . At this time she began to incorporate elements of soul into her music. Fiordaliso took part again in the Sanremo Festival in 1988 (with Per noi ), 1989 (with Se non avessi te ) and 1991 (with Il mare più grande che c'è ). The English version of the 1991 Sanremo contribution, I Love You Man , was also a small chart success in Germany.

Later years

In 1993, the singer became part of the popular weekly Sunday television show Domenica In on Rai Uno . In 1994 the compilation E adesso voglio la luna was released , a compilation of new versions of their greatest successes and two new songs. In 1995 Fiordaliso was hired to play the musical Fratelli di Sangue , the Italian version of Willy Russell's Blood Brothers . As a result, she began her own stage program, Fiordaliso Disco Live , a mixture of her own songs, cover versions and dialogue, with which she performed throughout Italy in the following years.

In 1997, the album Como te amaré, sung entirely in Spanish, was released on the Spanish record label Divucsa. The Italian version was released in 1998 under the title Sei bellissima . In 2002 her album Risolutamente decisa was released , on which three new songs were released and old songs were interpreted in a bluesy way. With the included song Accidenti a te Fiordaliso took part in the Sanremo Festival for the ninth time . In 2004, Sei bellissima was re-released as Come si fa along with new songs. In the same year she was a participant in the reality show Music Farm and became the presenter of Piazza Grande on Rai Due . From 2006 to 2007 she was one of the leading actresses in the Italian version of the musical Menopause .

In the following years Fiordaliso released several singles, including Io muoio in a duet with Gianni Fiorellino (2007), was seen on the concert and theater stage, took part in the reality show L'isola dei famosi (Italian version of Survivor ) (2016) and otherwise appeared in various television programs. She finally released new albums in 2011 and 2015 with Sponsorizzata and Frikandò .
