Non voglio mica la luna (Italian for “I don't want the moon”) is a song by the Italian singer Fiordaliso , which was released in 1984 as a single. With the song, which is considered to be her best known, she reached fifth place at the Sanremo Festival in 1984 .

Origin and content

The song was written by Enzo Malepasso, Luigi Albertelli and Zucchero . The text is about a woman who wants more time for herself, but also misses emotions in her relationship. The song begins as a quiet ballad , but then increases to an up-tempo pop song with a few concise strings.

In 1984 Fiordaliso took part in the festival for the third time. The title became a breakthrough for her, and she was also the best-placed artist at the festival. The song was also successful outside of Italy, particularly in Spain and Latin America . Fiordaliso himself recorded the song in Spanish.

Publication and reception

The single was released in 1984 by Durium (8178). On the B-side is the song Un tipo . The title came to number three in the Italian charts and was placed for 13 weeks. He also appeared on some compilation albums .

Cover versions

In the Spanish version Yo no te pido la luna (“I don't want the moon from you”) by Daniela Romo , the song became known in Spain and Latin America, but the version by Sergio Dalma also contributed to it. Wencke Myhre's version , Keep Smiling , also became known in German-speaking countries . She performed with the song on March 30, 1985 at Wetten, dass ..? from Innsbruck . This was followed by an appearance on the ZDF hit parade on April 24, 1985 . Myhre was not able to reach first place despite an appearance that was applauded by the studio audience, which would have been necessary for another appearance at that time.
