action
The Italian star writer Aurelio Morelli has long since passed his most glamorous years, his hair has run out as well as his ideas and successes. Although literary criticism is well-disposed towards him, his works are always difficult to sell. He thinks he recognizes the culprit for this development in the immorality of youth. And so Aurelio begins to lead a double life that nobody knows about: Morelli becomes a psychopath and woman murderer who cannot keep his hands off the well-formed necks of beautiful young women. So also from the prostitute Herta Enzian, whom he last strangled with a telephone cable. He disguised his horror deeds with pseudo-philosophical sayings such as “I am a revolutionary” and “Only murderers are still normal today”. Morelli presents himself as someone who despairs of this world and its alleged wickedness. He also provides the “moral” reason for his crimes: “I have to learn to be as mean, as animal, as callous as you all are”.
One day a sensational reporter gets on the trail of him who wants to land the final scoop for his sensational post through an interview, perhaps even through a whole series of reports. Emilio Bossi was no less unscrupulous in his choice of means than Morelli and persuaded him to write his memoirs for his magazines. In his sensational lust, Bossi goes so far that he helps intensively to cover up traces and to hinder or mislead the police in their investigations. Morelli is initially cautious and cautious about the reporter, but eventually realizes that this creep can be quite useful to him. And so Morelli begins to write in his vanity in Bossi's postil about his deeds. While Morelli sees the confessions as a life confession, Bossi only sees his own advancement and profit in the foreground, and so he pulls out all the stops to ensure that the police, who are reading along, do not track down his identity. Meanwhile, Morelli met a sincere admiration for his penmanship in the very young and beautiful Agnese. It is only with difficulty that he can keep himself from putting his hands around the blonde's beautiful neck at the right moment.

Reviews
"Technically inadequate bestseller film adaptation, characterized by that colossalism that is supposed to be criticized."
“The directorial debut of the experienced screenwriter Manfred Purzer just missed the flop. Conclusion: Kinski thriller with instant psychology "
