Manfred Purzer
Manfred Purzer (born April 13, 1931 in Munich ) is a German journalist , film director and screenwriter who often used the pseudonyms Ernst Flügel or Hans Hasenow .
life and career
After studying literature, psychology and philosophy, Purzer began his journalistic work for the Neue Zeitung a few years after the end of the war in Munich . In 1951 he accepted a scholarship from the evening newspaper at the Werner Friedmann Institute .
In 1952 he became editor at Deutsche Wochenschau GmbH, which produced the Neue Deutsche Wochenschau in Hamburg , and shot his first short documentaries for Die Welt im Bild . For some time he worked as production manager for the documentary film division at UFA . In 1958 he was promoted to editor-in-chief and managing director of the Neue Deutsche Wochenschau.
In 1965 Purzer returned to Munich to take up the position of production manager and managing director of Nora-Film there. Since 1966 Purzer has worked as a freelance writer, who has been writing film scripts since 1968, initially under the pseudonym "Ernst Flügel". He provided all the scripts for the successful Simmel adaptations produced by Luggi Waldleitner , and he also wrote the stories for some of the sex films typical of the 1970s.
From the mid-1970s onwards, Purzer directed several films himself. He staged Das Netz based on a novel by Hans Habe , The Elixirs of the Devil based on ETA Hoffmann and Der Mann im Schilf based on George Saiko.
In 1974 Purzer was a member of the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival . From 1974 to 1977 he was chairman of the project committee of the film funding agency . He was managing director of the Münchner Gesellschaft für Kabelkommunikation, founded the Medientage München in 1987 and organized it until 1998.
