Two under one roof is a German-Austrian television film by Peter Weck from 2001.
action
The former dancers Eberhard Gatzweiler and Walter Hofer are neighbors in a twin house. They have had a deep love-hate relationship for years, which is also cultivated by the fact that their two children Ulrike and Konrad are married to each other and Eberhard and Walter compete for their grandfather's love for their only grandson Martin. Since the chaotic Walter Martin once lost his grandson at a football game in the stadium, the grandson is now always left to the meticulous Eberhard, which creates further tension.
When Ulrike and Konrad go on vacation to America for three weeks, Martin stays with Eberhard. Small tricks and tricks also let Walter participate in the grandchildren. Both grandfathers also get to know Martin's class teacher Hanna and fall in love with her. At first one tries to outdo the other, but both soon realize that Hanna has problems with school director Steckl and should be expelled from school. Steckl once tried to seduce Hanna, but she rejected him. Since then he has been looking for a reason to fire Hanna and finds him when classwork suddenly disappears. Because of a breach of her duty of order, Steckl calls a commission to decide on Hanna's transfer.
Eberhard and Walter team up. First they try to bribe Steckl. Eberhard wants to finally let the eternal second Steckl win in an amateur dance tournament if Hanna is allowed to stay. Steckl agrees, but Eberhard sprains his ankle and has to let Walter dance, who promptly wins the tournament in euphoria. It was only Martin's plan that thwarted Steckl's game: when the commission had already met, Walter Steckl told him about Hanna's failed seduction and also about his revenge: he himself had hidden the class work in his safe, while Hanna still believed she was to have lost. Martin has meanwhile switched on the school loudspeakers on the entire site, which are used to transmit Steckl's words because he has a switched on microphone on the table. The commission also hears about Steckl's plan and Hanna is saved.
