Sabine Muhar

Sabine Muhar (* 1960 in Vienna ) is an Austrian actress and university lecturer .

Life

education

Sabine Muhar completed her acting training at the Mozarteum Salzburg from 1982 (according to other sources: 1983) to 1986 . She also received private tuition from Ida Krottendorf and Walter Riss in Vienna. She studied singing privately a. a. with Toma Popescu , Julia Eder-Schaefer and Ingrid Olofsson . She also studied speech technology intensively and later attended numerous workshops in voice and speech technology. In 1987 she passed the stage maturity test of the Joint Commission. Courses in film and cinematic scene work followed later.

From 1990 she had engagements as a theater actress at various state and independent theaters in Austria and Germany . She kicked u. a. at the Theater der Jugend in Vienna, at the Vienna Ronacher (1996, as Luci in Das Spiel vom Lieben Augustin by Ulrich Becher and Peter Preses ), at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt (as Isabelle von Angoulême in König Johann ), at the Stadttheater Baden (as Minna von Barnhelm , also as servant Georgette in Die Schule der Frauen ), at the Landestheater Niederösterreich (season 1993/94, as Hortense in Die Hofloge by Karl Farkas and Toni Impekoven ), at the Wiener Metropol (as Wilma Forst in Sag saying goodbye ... ), at the Little Comedy Graz, at the Salzburg Children's and Youth Theater, at the Studiotheater Stuttgart (2002, as Filomena in Pesthauch und Liebeslust after Boccaccio's Decamerone , awarded the Stuttgart Theater Prize 2002) and at the Theater Drachengasse in Vienna.

In 2005 she worked (alongside Volker Lippmann ) as Genia Hofreiter in a production of the Schnitzler play Das weite Land at the original location in front of the Villa Hahn in Baden near Vienna .

She also appeared at numerous Austrian summer festivals, including a. at the Perchtoldsdorf Summer Games (1997, as Emilia in Othello ), at the Stockerau Summer Festival (2006, as mother Anna Strauss, in the musical Schani , alongside Alfons Haider ), at the Porcia Comedy (1994, as Nepita in the play The maid of the Neapolitan Renaissance poet Giambattista della Porta and in 1995 as Mirandolina ), at the Altenburg Abbey Summer Games (1998, as Minna von Barnhelm at Rolf Schwab's side as Tellheim) and at the Leonding Summer Games (as Jeannette in The Last of the Fiery Lovers of Neil Simon ).

Muhar also toured Germany (including as Eliza in My Fair Lady and as Lilian in the musical Die Drei von der Gasstelle ), regularly participated in independent productions in Vienna, gave readings (among others with Dany Sigel ), and performed his own chanson programs on. Muhar could also be heard as a spokesperson in literature programs on Ö1 . She also works as a voice actor (TV and radio advertising, cartoons, radio plays, features and documentaries).

In 2011 she played Margot in the Austrian premiere of the play Les Fugeuses by Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron at the Neue Tribüne Wien . In summer 2011 she was a guest at the Salzburg Festival ; In Christof Loy's production of the Strauss opera Die Frau ohne Schatten she was part of the theater ensemble as “ Demeldame ”. In July / August 2012, Olga appeared in Chekhov's play Drei Schwestern at the Armen Theater Wien (ATW) . In 2013 she took on the role of Aldonza in the musical Der Mann von La Mancha at the “Bühne im Berg” in Mödling . In the 2014/15 season she was a guest at the Free Stage Villach as Konstanze in The Trained Man by John von Düffel (based on the novel by Esther Vilar ). 2014–2016 she played at Dschungel Wien and KosmosTheater Wien in the children's musical Why the child cooks in polenta (based on the novel by Aglaja Veteranyi , with music by Jelena Poprzan).

In 2017 she was part of the ensemble of the Wiener Lustspielhaus as Mrs. Rosalie Graf in the comedy Figaro or a great cut by Max Gruber (director: Adi Hirschal ).

Movie and TV

Muhar also worked in cinema, film, and television. She worked in various television productions, including a. in the television films Two Under One Roof (2001) and Tom und die Biberbande (2001) as well as in the Austrian movie Twinni (2003). In the US film Die Frau in Gold (2015) she was engaged as a supporting actress and language coach for the German-language scenes. She also had episode roles in the Austrian TV series SOKO Donau (2008) and CopStories (2013, as a small restaurateur Rosa Lindner, who runs a snack stand with sandwiches ). In 2014, she had another episode role in the crime series SOKO Donau as a witness Ms. Feiersinger, who rented an artist's studio in Baden near Vienna to the alleged perpetrators.

Teaching

Muhar took on extensive teaching activities in the areas of acting and speaking technology. Since the winter semester 2006/07 she has held various teaching positions for speaking and speech formation in the departments of drama, singing and opera as well as musicals at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna .

Since 2014 she has been a professor at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna, with a professorship for speaking. Her areas of responsibility there included a. also basic work with drama students, role work and audition training, speaking technique for singers who are not native speakers of German (including dialogue work with the Cluj Opera ensemble ) and linguistic audition training for singers.

From 2010 to 2012 she also held a teaching position for acting for singing students at the Institute for Music Theater at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . In addition, she led workshops for dubbing, held training courses in the economic use of voice for teachers and gave individual lessons in dealing with breath and voice.

Private

Sabine Muhar is the daughter of the pulmonologist and Viennese university professor Franz Muhar (1920–2015, author of the book Breath and Voice. Instructions for Good Speaking ), with whom she also worked as an assistant for many years. Muhar is married and lives in the 19th district of Döbling in Vienna .
