action
Eleven-year-old Dole meets Hermann in his forties while on vacation by the sea. Both get on very well and more than a friendship develops that extends beyond the holiday. The two families have no understanding until finally both families insist that the contact between the two be broken off. One day, however, Dole stands in front of Hermann's door and “kidnaps” him on a journey that ends for the two of them where it began: by the sea. In search of the two, Hermann's wife Margot and Dole's mother Franziska are told wondrous stories by witnesses.
