Hans-Ulrich Treichel
Hans-Ulrich Treichel (born August 12, 1952 in Versmold , Westphalia) is a German Germanist and writer .
Life
Hans-Ulrich Treichel was born in Versmold in Westphalia in 1952 and lived there until 1968. After graduating from high school in Hanau , he studied German, philosophy and political science at the Free University of Berlin , where he received his doctorate in 1983 with a thesis on Wolfgang Koeppen and obtained his habilitation in 1993. From 1995 to March 2018 he taught at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig .
Treichel was best known for his novel The Lost , in which he related the flight of his parents from the " Eastern Territories " and the loss of their firstborn son towards the end of the Second World War to his own childhood and youth. Hans-Ulrich Treichel is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
Treichel lives in Berlin and Leipzig.
