Felix Keller is a cynical, sarcastic, and ill-tempered teacher in early retirement. When one day his neighbor Marie Maibach has water damage in her apartment, he is forced to deal with her. Her pubescent daughter Amelie, whom he considers particularly stupid, is, contrary to her poor academic performance, more intelligent than he thought.
