Özay Fecht (* 1953 in Istanbul ) is a German actress and jazz singer .

Life

Fecht, originally from Turkey, has lived in Berlin since 1971 , where she married a German. In 1980 she went on her first tour as a jazz singer and performed with Wolf Mayer and other musicians in numerous jazz clubs and festivals. In 1995 she made her breakthrough as a jazz singer with the CD “Antiquated Love” (together with David Murray and Chico Freeman ) not only in Europe but also in New York . She gives many concerts in a row with Amina Claudine Myers and Tom Nicholas . She is considered a typical blues singer and convinces with a fascinating voice and expressiveness. Fecht has been on German television as an actress since 1993. She had her cinema debut as early as 1986 and was immediately honored with the German Film Prize as best actress for the leading role in 40 sqm Germany . After that she was seen in numerous other German feature films, for example in the triple Grimme Prize-winning Ich Chef, Du Turnschuh (1998) or in 2006 in the “best TV film of the year”, My Crazy Turkish Wedding .
