The laboratory examination is the main examination method of the KTU.

A forensic investigation (KTU) is an analysis of factual evidence or evidence in the context of criminal proceedings based on scientific procedures . It is carried out by specialists from the criminal investigation department . Elaborate examinations are carried out by the state criminal police offices , while the criminal police inspections are simpler.

The evaluating body, which only acts upon request and always only carries out a previously determined investigation (chemical, physical, biological), uses forensic technology and sends its results to the police department responsible for the investigation. The sense and purpose is to prove the perpetrator , act and perpetrator of a criminal offense .

It examines samples at the crime scene are found, for example, paint residues, hair , DNA evidence and fingerprints . The results are mainly achieved through comparisons with other traces or data.
