Anita Ekberg
Kerstin Anita Marianne Ekberg (born September 29, 1931 in Malmö ; † January 11, 2015 in Rocca di Papa , Italy ) was a Swedish actress and model . In the 1950s she was considered a sex symbol .
Life
Ekberg became Miss Sweden in 1950 and became known to a wider public. She had her first major success in 1953 in the films Abbott and Costello go to Mars and The Yellow Stream on the side of John Wayne and Lauren Bacall . In 1956 Anita Ekberg played in War and Peace and in the same year she received the Golden Globe Award for best young actress for The Yellow Stream . She was also successful in 1960 with the films Boccaccio 70 and Raubzüge der Mongolen (Austrian The Mongols ) and especially La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life) with the famous bathing scene in the Trevi Fountain . In 1963 she was a partner of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin in the western comedy Four for Texas . After that she hardly played in films worth mentioning, the only exception being Fellini's Intervista in 1986 .
From 1956 to 1959 Anita Ekberg was married to the British actor Anthony Steel and from 1963 to 1975 with the American actor Rik van Nutter . Both marriages remained childless.
She last lived in Genzano di Roma . After her house was broken into and it burned, Ekberg ran into financial hardship. She then lived in a retirement home near Rome and wrote her memoir. After a femoral neck fracture , she was forced to use a wheelchair.
Ekberg died in a hospital in Rocca di Papa not far from Rome after a long illness. Her urn was buried in the cemetery of Skanör Church in Sweden.

In the James Bond film With Love from Moscow, there is a house wall advertisement with the Anita Ekberg film Bob on Safari ; there is an escape window exactly at the point of her mouth.
