Alles für Papa is a German comedy film from 1953 by Karl Hartl with Johanna Matz and Curd Jürgens in the leading roles.
action
Charlott Haberland is, in contrast to Mr. Papa, a thoroughly good daughter. Sent to a Swiss boarding school by her widowed father, Clemens, a wealthy newspaper publisher and a real fanatic, for the purpose of a solid education, she returned home one day after graduating from school. Charlott is a little shocked because instead of a level-headed, calm dad, she meets a life-loving and adventurous man in his “prime” who, although he has lost his wife, is enjoying life to the fullest. Clemens showered his daughter with her care and wanted a father at home. Therefore, there is only one consequence for them: Mister Papa absolutely needs something solid, a new wife!
This, however, completely contradicts Clemens' life planning, and since the little daughter does not rest, he takes a particularly drastic measure. He creates a new, a second existence. Clemens therefore apparently responds to Charlott's wishes: while old Clemens secretly continues his life as a brisk charmer, the new Clemens does exactly what Charlott expects of him. In the long run, however, this double life turns out to be more exhausting than expected. When she was looking for a partner, the daughter was promptly shipwrecked: the chosen one turned out to be a professional marriage fraud! But the girl has more fortune in her own love affairs: She meets a young reporter, the smart and amiable Ferry Stuck. They both become a couple. Clemens has not found a wife for life, but his daughter will soon make him a grandfather.
