Edelweiss Malchin
Edelweiß Malchin (born November 5, 1923 in Berlin ; † November 15, 1983 there ) was a German actress .
Life
Very little is known about the life of Edelweiss Malchin. The 17-year-old has been a theater actress since the early 1940s, but without a permanent commitment. In the artist novel Gabriele Dambrone she made her debut in front of the camera at the end of 1942 with the tiny role of the teacher Pauline. Until just before the end of the war in 1945, the Berliner was brought in front of the camera several times with growing supporting roles, most recently in two unfinished productions.
Edelweiß Malchin was only able to continue her film work in 1948, but this time with a leading role: In the time-consuming and problematic film ... and if it were only one ... , a DEFA production by Wolfgang Schleif , the artist embodied an actress. Malchin's later roles were consistently smaller; Fredric March and Richard Widmark were partners in two English-language films shot in Germany . On the one hand, Malchin made a tiny appearance in the anti-communist US circus film A Man on a Wire , on the other hand, five years later, with the South American Manuela Alvarez, a capitalist seductress, she took on a supporting supporting role in the racing driver film Rivals at the Wheel , which had strongly anti-Western undertones - another one DEFA production.
Even after the war, Edelweiß Malchin did not receive a firm commitment from any stage. She only took on piece contracts and guest performances, such as at the Renaissance theater, where she had been seen as a maid in The Sweet Secret in 1955 . In 1960 the artist, who lives in Berlin-Wannsee, withdrew into private life.
