Walter Fredersdorf

Walter Fredersdorf (born February 20, 1896 as Walter Georg Otto Fredersdorf in Magdeburg , † September 29, 1965 in Meersburg ) was a German film editor .

The brother of the director and editor Herbert B. Fredersdorf followed in the footsteps of his father, a businessman , and after his military service from 1914-1919 also trained as a businessman. In addition, he received further training as a musician at the Conservatory and initially worked as a conductor and conductor in the 1920s .

In 1933 he changed his profession and retrained to become an editor. He presented his first independent work in the field of film editing in 1936. Until 1945 Fredersdorf worked for all important film companies in Germany ( UFA , Terra , Bavaria ). Shortly after the end of the war, he moved to Hamburg for a short time before settling in southern Germany at the beginning of the 1950s and by the end of the decade he was responsible for the final editing of less important entertainment productions for Munich companies. Fredersdorf has occasionally also worked as an assistant director, including on productions by his brother Herbert.

His sister was the actress Karen Fredersdorf .
