Yukiko Okada

Yukiko Okada ( Japanese 岡田 有 希 子 , Okada Yukiko ; born August 22, 1967 as Kayo Satō ( 佐藤 佳 代 , Satō Kayo ) in Ichinomiya ; † April 8, 1986 in Yotsuya , Tokyo ) was a Japanese singer and winner of the Japanese talent show Star Tanjō ! and is one of the representatives of Pure Idol Pop . She still has a large fan base, especially in Japan, and is called "Yukko" among fans.

Yukiko was born as the second daughter of the Satō family in Ichinomiya Hospital and grew up in Nagoya . Even in elementary school, she had a soft spot for reading, especially manga , and was very talented even at that age. Even in middle school, she had made up her mind that she wanted to become a singer, and went to every possible casting . Ultimately, she was starred by the talent show Tanjō! accepted and won the title of best female singer in 1983.

Career

In April 1984 she released her first single First Date , only to win the Japan Record Award (Japanese Grammy or Echo ) for best young artist. Other hit singles followed, such as Dreaming Girl - Koi, Hajimemashite , Futari Dake no Ceremony , Kanashii Yokan , Summer Beach and Love Fair .

She also had a role in the sci-fi drama Kinjirareta Mariko , where she played the equipped with supernatural powers heroine Mariko (broadcast on November 5, 1985 until January 28, 1986 on TBS in 12 episodes).

She received a lucrative advertising contract with Kanebo Cosmetics and took on the number 1 hit Kuchibiru Network (" Lips Network ") for a commercial (February 10, 1986). At times she was the singer with the most lucrative advertising contracts in Japan ( Toshiba , Sony , Glico ).
