Elisabeth Crodel

Elisabeth Crodel (born November 8, 1897 in Ober-Glauche ; † April 8, 1967 in Munich ; born Elisabeth von Fiebig ) was a German painter and artisan .

Life

Elisabeth von Fiebig grew up as the daughter of a doctorate in chemistry, mountaineering and sports rider Walt (h) er von Fiebig and his wife Elisabeth von Kessel in Jena , had lessons from the painter and art teacher Christoph Natter and had her own studio in Jena. As Ibeth von Fiebig she participated in the exhibitions of the Munich Secession in 1918 and 1919 and in 1922 at the annual exhibition of the Free Secession in Berlin.

In 1918 she married the painter Charles Crodel , based on whose designs she created an extensive work of tapestries as well as ( embroidery and appliqué ). Her textile work, mostly paraments , expanded large glass painting commissions from Charles Crodel. As with many women in art , her work was closely tied to that of her husband.

Elisabeth Crodel was portrayed by Gerhard Marcks .

She is buried with her husband in the Kröllwitz cemetery in Halle.
