Cemetery chapel in the old part of the cemetery

The Kröllwitz Cemetery was established in 1899 in the Kröllwitz district of Halle (Saale) .

description

The cemetery with an area of about 1.5 hectares consists of two parts, which are separated from each other by Lettiner Straße. The celebration hall is located on the older part to the west of the street. The first burial took place there in 1899. With around 450 grave sites, it is the smaller one compared to the newer part. The part east of the road has around 2500 grave sites and was established in 1950. A fountain figure by the sculptor Richard Horn is worth mentioning. The city of Halle is responsible for this.

The older part of the cemetery with the cemetery chapel is a listed building.

The cemetery chapel, built at the end of the 19th century, is a simple Gothic-style brick building with stepped gables and pointed arched window and door openings, to which an avenue leads axially.

The German medievalist Georg Baesecke , the prehistorian Friedrich Schlette , the ceramicist and sculptor Gertraud Degen and the painters and graphic artists Charles Crodel , Albert Ebert and Otto Möhwald are buried in the cemetery.
