Santiago Arrieta

Santiago Arrieta , actually Santiago Donadío , (born July 21, 1897 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † April 8, 1975 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ) was a Uruguayan actor .

The career of the son Santiago Luis Donadios and Inés Arrietas , who came from a family of artists , began in Uruguay in the 1910s. In the following decade he played on the Argentine stages Teatro Nacional (member of the ensemble 1922–1928) and Teatro Cervantes , before 1935 his film career began. In his first film, El alma del bandoneón he played under the direction Mario Sofficis on the side of Libertad Lamarque . He also played the leading role in Manuel Romero's classic from the Argentine film Los muchachos de antes no usaban gomina . He played in a total of 26 films, often impersonating the adolescent lover, and in this role was considered one of the best in the Argentinian sound film. With the film Historia del 900 from 1948 a time began in which he attracted attention as a character actor. For his role in He nacido en Buenos Aires he received an award for best supporting actor. He made his last film in 1962. The artist, who was married to the actress Isabel Figlioli , died in 1975 at the age of 78 in the Argentine capital.
