Adolf Lampe (born April 8, 1897 in Frankfurt am Main , † February 9, 1948 in Reinhausen ) was a German economist of the 20th century. Through his significant work in the context of the Freiburg circles , he has made great contributions to the resistance against National Socialism .

Life

Adolf Lampe did military service in World War I and after the end of the war studied political economy in Frankfurt am Main with Adolf Weber . Between March and September 1919 he was an officer in the Freikorps "Field Marshal Hindenburg" in Kolberg. In 1921 he followed his academic teacher Adolf Weber to Munich , where he became a Dr. oec. publ. received his doctorate. In 1925 he completed his habilitation in Munich and in 1926 he was offered an associate professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , which he accepted.

In Freiburg he worked with Constantin von Dietze and Walter Eucken , maintaining his independent attitude towards the Freiburg school . After November 9, 1938, Lampe was significantly involved in the Freiburg circles . He first initiated the Freiburg Council with Constantin von Dietze , then took part in the Freiburg Bonhoeffer Circle and finally worked tirelessly as secretary of the Erwin von Beckerath working group, drawing up reports on the economic order of the post-war period. After the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944, he was - like Constantin von Dietze - arrested by the Gestapo in September 1944 as part of the Grid Action .

After the end of the war he worked as a personal professor in Freiburg. Due to his untimely death, he was no longer able to accept the call for a regular full professorship at the University of Bonn , which he had already accepted.

Honors

In memory of Adolf Lampe, the economist Hermann Frese donated the Adolf Lampe Prize, which is awarded every two years by the Economics and Behavioral Science Faculty of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . The young talent award, endowed with 2500 euros, is awarded for excellent diploma theses or dissertations in the field of economics. The first award ceremony took place in 2001.
