Thomas Negro
Thomas Neger (born April 8, 1971 in Mainz ) is a master plumber and roofer as well as a singer , continuing the tradition of his grandfather , the carnival legend Ernst Neger .
activity
At the Mainz Carnival , Neger mainly plays his grandfather's evergreens , but also other songs, some of his own. He usually appears with his band Die Humbas . His song Im Schatten des Doms even made it to number 1 of the most popular Mainz Carnival songs .
The logo of his company Thomas Neger Metallsysteme GmbH , which depicts a dark blue "little man with thick lips and rings in his ears large in the palm of his hand" over a triangle or roof, has recently been described as racist . Neger rejects this criticism and points out that the logo as well as the name have been a tradition in Mainz for decades. Thomas Neger has three children.
Local politics
In the 2009 local elections, Neger achieved the eleventh-highest share of the vote among the CDU candidates for the Mainz City Council, although he was only 39th as a CDU candidate. In 2014 he was re-elected to the Mainz city council for the CDU. In 2019, with 30,940 votes, he received the third highest number of votes among the Mainz CDU city council candidates.
