Hugo Fregonese

Hugo Fregonese (born April 8, 1908 in Mendoza , † January 17, 1987 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine film director .

Life

Fregonese worked as a sports journalist in Buenos Aires and came to the United States in 1935 , where he studied at Columbia University . In Los Angeles he worked as a consultant for film productions with a Latin American background. From 1938 he lived again in Buenos Aires. He worked as a film editor , assistant director and short film director for Argentinian film productions .

Fregonese directed numerous Hollywood B-Westerns from 1944 to 1975 . In Germany he made the Karl May film Old Shatterhand and The Death Rays of Dr. Mabuse .

His marriage to actress Faith Domergue had two children.
