Charles-Henri-Joseph Cardinal Binet (born April 8, 1869 in Juvigny , France , † July 15, 1936 in Besançon ) was Archbishop of Besançon .

Life

Charles Binet received his philosophical and theological training in Paris . He received on 22 October 1893 sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a chaplain in the diocese of Soissons . From 1895 to 1914 he lectured Catholic theology at the seminary of his home diocese, which he also headed as Regens from 1909 to 1914 . During the First World War he worked as a chaplain in the French army . In 1919 he became Vicar General and Archdeacon of the Diocese of Laon .

Charles Binet was born on June 16, 1920 by Pope Benedict XV. appointed Bishop of Soissons . The episcopal ordination received Charles Binet on 24 August 1920 by the Archbishop of Reims , Louis Cardinal Luçon . In October 1927 Pope Pius XI appointed him . Archbishop of Besançon , in December of the same year he accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Prisca in the college of cardinals .

Charles Binet died on July 15, 1936 in Besançon and was buried in the local St-Jean Cathedral.
