Louis Luçon
Louis-Henri-Joseph Cardinal Luçon (born October 28, 1842 in Maulévrier , France , † May 28, 1930 in Reims ) was a French clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Reims .
Life
Louis-Henri-Joseph Luçon completed his theological and philosophical studies in Angers with doctorates in Catholic theology and canon law . He received on 23 December 1865, the sacrament of Holy Orders , and then worked as a chaplain in Angers and Rome . From 1883 to 1887 he was archpriest in Cholet .
In 1887 Pope Leo XIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Belley . The episcopal ordination donated him on February 8, 1888, the Bishop of Angers , Charles Émile Freppel ; Co-consecrators were François Grolleau, Bishop of Évreux , and Jules François Lecoq , Bishop of Nantes .
In 1906 Pope Pius X. Louis Luçon transferred the leadership of the Archdiocese of Reims, on December 16, 1907 he accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria Nuova in the College of Cardinals . In both 1914 and 1922 , Cardinal Louis Luçon attended the conclave . During the First World War , Cardinal Luçon gained widespread fame when he demonstratively stayed in Reims in anticipation of the destruction of his cathedral .
Louis Cardinal Luçon represented the Pope at several celebrations as papal legate . He died on May 28, 1930 in Reims and was buried in the cathedral there.
