The diocese of Nantes ( Latin : Dioecesis Nannetensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in France, which extends over the area of the Loire-Atlantique department .
history
Saint Clair is considered to be the founder and first bishop of the diocese of Nantes in the 3rd century . In the 4th century it was canonically erected.
Until 2002 it was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Tours , since then it has been assigned to the ecclesiastical province of Rennes .
