The Roman Catholic Diocese of Luçon ( Latin Dioecesis Lucionensis , French Diocèse de Luçon ) is in France located Roman Catholic diocese based in Luçon .

history

The diocese was on August 16, 1317 by Pope John XXII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Salvator noster from cession of territory of the diocese of Poitiers and subordinated to the archbishopric of Bordeaux as a suffragan .

On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Luçon was dissolved and the area was incorporated into the Diocese of La Rochelle-Saintes .

The diocese of Luçon was re-established on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis . Since then, the area of ​​the Diocese of Luçon has been the same as that of the Vendée department . On December 16, 2002, the diocese of Luçon was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Rennes as a suffragan by Pope John Paul II .
