history
The diocese of Vannes was established in the 5th century and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tours as a suffragan . On November 29, 1801 parts of the area of the diocese of Saint-Malo were annexed to the diocese of Vannes . The diocese of Vannes was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Rennes as a suffragan on January 3, 1859 .
