The diocese of Le Mans ( Latin : Dioecesis Cenomanensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in France, which extends over the area of the Sarthe department . Yves Le Saux has been bishop since January 2009 .
history
The first bishop is St. Julianus , his successor was St. Liborius . The canonical establishment as a diocese took place in the 5th century .
In 1855 the diocese was adapted to the Sarthe department and ceded areas to the newly established diocese of Laval .
Through the translation and veneration of relics of St. Liborius in the Archdiocese of Paderborn , there has been a partnership between the cities of Paderborn and Le Mans since the 9th century . The two dioceses in particular feel connected. Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker was present with a delegation from Paderborn at the consecration of the new Bishop Yves Le Saux.
