Life
Saint Julian was born at the end of the 3rd century and was bishop of Le Mans from 301 until his death in 348. He was the predecessor of St. Liborius . Little is known about his work as a bishop. Before his time as bishop he was probably active as a missionary in the area between Tours and Le Mans.
The basilica above his tomb was first mentioned in 619. In 835, the relics of St. Julian were brought to Le Mans Cathedral. Since 1243 there are also some relics in Paderborn .
