The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Rouen ( Latin Archidioecesis rothomagensis , French archidiocèse de Rouen ) is a in the north of France located Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church . The incumbent Archbishops of Rouen hold the title of Primate of Normandy .
history
Rouen has been a bishopric since the 2nd century . The term of office of the first bishop Saint-Victrice was from 385 to 410. Rouen was elevated to an archbishopric in the 5th or 6th century. Rouen was the coronation site and burial place of the Norman dukes as well as the Metropolitan Church of Normandy . On April 11, 1658, the overseas territories were spun off as the Apostolic Vicariate of New France . On July 6, 1974, the diocese of Le Havre was spun off. The current bishop has been Dominique Lebrun since his appointment in 2015 .
