The Roman Catholic Diocese of Pamiers ( lat. : Dioecesis Apamiensis ) is in the south of France located diocese of the Roman Catholic in France . The bishopric is in the city of Pamiers .
history
The diocese of Pamiers was established on September 16, 1295 by Pope Boniface VIII with the Apostolic Constitution Romanus Pontifex from ceding territories of the Archdiocese of Toulouse and subordinated to this as a suffragan diocese. On July 11, 1317, the diocese of Pamiers gave up parts of its territory to establish the dioceses of Mirepoix and Rieux . The diocese of Pamiers was dissolved on November 29, 1801 and the area was incorporated into the Archdiocese of Toulouse .
On October 6, 1822, the diocese of Pamiers was re-established by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis . Since then, it has also included most of the former diocese of Couserans with its episcopal see Saint-Lizier .
