Located in the Ile-de-France situated Diocese of Meaux ( Latin Dioecesis Meldensis , French Diocèse de Meaux ) was already in the 3rd century in Meaux founded and is today the oldest Suffragansitz the Metropolitan Diocese of Paris. It has been a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Paris since 1622 .
Before that, it had belonged to the ecclesiastical province of Sens since the time of Charlemagne .
