The Roman Catholic Diocese of Limoges ( Latin Dioecesis Lemovicensis , French Diocèse de Limoges ) is an in France situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Limoges .

history

The diocese was established in the 3rd century and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bourges as a suffragan . On July 11, 1317, the Diocese of Limoges gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Tulle . On November 29, 1801, parts of the area of ​​the Diocese of Tulle were incorporated into the Diocese of Limoges. On October 6, 1822, the Diocese of Limoges gave up parts of its territory to re-establish the Diocese of Tulle. The Diocese of Limoges was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Poitiers as a suffragan on December 16, 2002 .
