The Roman Catholic Diocese of Limoges ( Latin Dioecesis Lemovicensis , French Diocèse de Limoges ) is an in France situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Limoges .
history
The diocese was established in the 3rd century and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bourges as a suffragan . On July 11, 1317, the Diocese of Limoges gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Tulle . On November 29, 1801, parts of the area of the Diocese of Tulle were incorporated into the Diocese of Limoges. On October 6, 1822, the Diocese of Limoges gave up parts of its territory to re-establish the Diocese of Tulle. The Diocese of Limoges was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Poitiers as a suffragan on December 16, 2002 .
