The Roman Catholic Diocese of Périgueux ( lat. : Dioecesis Petrocoricensis ) is in France located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Périgueux .

history

The diocese of Périgueux was established in the 3rd century and subordinated to the archbishopric of Bordeaux as a suffragan . On July 11, 1317, the diocese of Périgueux gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Sarlat . The diocese of Périgueux was dissolved on November 29, 1801 and the area was incorporated into the diocese of Angoulême . The diocese of Périgueux was re-established on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis .
