The Roman Catholic Diocese of Gap ( lat. : Dioecesis Vapincensis ) is in France located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Gap .

history

The diocese of Gap was established in the 5th century and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Aix as a suffragan . On November 29, 1801, the Gap diocese was dissolved and the area was annexed to the dioceses of Digne and Grenoble . The diocese of Gap was re-established on October 6, 1822 by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution Paternae charitatis . On December 16, 2002, the Diocese of Gap was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Marseille as a suffragan.
