The Roman Catholic Diocese of Bayonne ( lat. : Dioecesis Baionensis ) is in the south of France located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in France , based in Bayonne .
history
The diocese of Bayonne was established in the 4th century and subordinated to the archdiocese also as a suffragan . On November 29, 1801, parts of the diocese areas of Comminges , Lescar , Lombez and Tarbes and the diocese of Oloron were annexed to the diocese of Bayonne ; the former cathedral of Oloron, St. Marien in Oloron-Sainte-Marie , is today co- cathedral of the diocese of Bayonne. The diocese of Bayonne gave up on October 6, 1822 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Tarbes and Aire . On December 16, 2002, the Diocese of Bayonne was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bordeaux as a suffragan.
