Diocese of Comminges

The diocese of Comminges ( lat. : Dioecesis Convenarum ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges .

The diocese of Comminges was established in the 5th century. It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Eauze as a suffragan . The first bishop was Suavis . In the middle of the 9th century the Archdiocese of Eauze was renamed the Archdiocese of Auch and the Diocese of Comminges remained subordinate to this as a suffragan seat.

On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Comminges was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the Archdiocese of Toulouse and the Diocese of Bayonne .

In 1763 the Diocese of Comminges comprised 280 parishes .
