The Roman Catholic Diocese of Digne ( Latin Dioecesis Diniensis ) is in the high-Provence in southern France located Roman Catholic diocese , based in the town of Digne-les-Bains .

history

The diocese was founded in the 4th century; initially it was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Embrun as a suffragan . On November 29, 1801, parts of the areas of the dioceses Apt , Gap , Glandèves , Riez , Senez and Sisteron and the Archdiocese of Embrun were annexed to the diocese of Digne ; at the same time it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Aix as a suffragan. On December 16, 2002, the Diocese of Digne was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Marseille as a suffragan.
