Diocese of Avranches
The diocese of Avranches ( lat. : Dioecesis Abrincensis ) was one in France situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Avranches .
history
The diocese of Avranches was established in the 6th century. The first bishop was Nepus . The diocese of Avranches was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Rouen as a suffragan . In 1764 the Avranches diocese comprised 170 parishes .
On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Avranches was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was annexed to the Diocese of Coutances .
