Luigi Caetani (July 1595 in Piedimonte , † April 15, 1642 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal and bishop .

After studying in Ravenna and Rome, where he also received his doctorate in law, Caetani was appointed Commendatar Abbot of San Leonardo in Puglia on September 19, 1608 . After he had been dispensed from the lack of the canonical minimum age for episcopal ordination , the Pope appointed him titular patriarch on March 14, 1622. Already on June 12, 1622 received his Cardinal Ludovico Ludovisi , with the assistance of the archbishops Galeazzo Sanvitale and Vulpiano Volpi , in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore , the episcopal ordination . On November 14, 1622 appointed coadjutor of the Archbishop of Capua, on March 17, 1624 he finally became archbishop there himself . Created cardinal on January 19, 1626, he was assigned Santa Pudenziana as titular church on February 9, 1626 . After he had renounced the Archdiocese of Capua on March 1, 1627 and settled in Rome, he became prefect of the Congregation for the Reform of the Breven in 1631 and was chamberlain of the Holy Cardinals College from January 12, 1637 to January 15, 1638 .
