Dulce Pontes (also known as Dulce , born April 8, 1969 in Montijo , Portugal ) is a Portuguese singer and composer .

Life and accomplishments

Pontes has been the new star of Fado in Portugal since the early 1990s . In 1991 she won the Portuguese song competition and started under the name Dulce at the Eurovision Song Contest in the same year. There she was eighth out of 22 participants.

Her first album came out in 1992: Lusitana . In 1993 their second album Lágrimas was released , which became one of the best-selling albums of all time in Portugal. She became better known internationally through a concert in Verona with Ennio Morricone , where she sang songs by the Italian film composer and conducted Morricone. In 1999 she sang a duet with Andrea Bocelli called O Mare E Tu , which appeared in Bocelli's album Sogno that same year . In 2003 Morricone and Pontes made a joint album.

Internationally, she appeared in the group game draw for the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal, when she appeared in the supporting program.

In 2006 she released a triple album with O coração tem três portas . It is a live concert CD and a DVD with video recordings. The accompanying studio CD presents Pontes as her own composer and producer.
