Duarte Mendes

Duarte Mendes (aka José Henrique Duarte Mendes , born August 7, 1947 ) is a former Portuguese singer .

Mendes was the captain and officer of the artillery school. In 1974 he was part of the Movimento das Forças Armadas during the Carnation Revolution . At the same time, he was known as a singer: he took part in the Festival da Canção four times (1970 to 1973), but without achieving a victory. When he participated in 1975 he managed to win and was allowed to compete for his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1975 in Stockholm . The title Madrugada , which deals with the Carnation Revolution lyrically, only came in 16th. Except for an LP, which was released this year, Mendes was no longer a musician.
