Adelaide Ferreira

Adelaide Ferreira (actually: Maria Adelaide Mengas Matafome Ferreira , born September 23, 1959 in Alcanena ) is a Portuguese singer and actress .

Her first singles appeared in 1978, and the 1981 rock single Baby Suicida became a hit in Portugal . She won the Festival da Canção in 1985 and was therefore allowed to compete for her country at the 1985 Eurovision Song Contest in Gothenburg . With the ballad Penso em ti (Eu sei) she only came in 18th. Nevertheless, she has remained a popular singer in her homeland to this day with a whole series of singles and albums.

From the beginning of the 1980s she became active as an actress in addition to music. Her most important role was in the 1980 film Kilas, o Mau da Fita . They have been featured in Portuguese telenovelas since the mid-1980s .

In 2015 she took part again at the Festival da Canção with the song Paz , but was eliminated in the semi-finals.

In 2016 she can be seen in one of the leading roles in the play Parque á vista at the Teatro Maria Vitória in Lisbon.
