Cláudia Sofia Gomes Monteiro de Aguiar (born April 8, 1982 in Funchal , Madeira ) is a Portuguese politician ( PSD ).

Monteiro de Aguiar studied sociology at the Minho University in Braga from 2000 to 2005 . This was followed from 2007 to 2009 by a postgraduate degree in marketing and communication at the Instituto Politécnico in Leiria . Between 2008 and 2011 she worked as a communications and marketing assistant at Porto Bay Hotels & Resorts.

Monteiro de Aguiar has been involved in the social democratic youth organization JSD since 1997. From 2011 to 2014 she was a member of the presidium of the congress of her party and advised it.

From 2006 to 2011 she was a member of the Madeira Regional Parliament .

In the 2011 parliamentary elections, Monteiro de Aguiar stood for the Social Democrats in the Madeira constituency and won a mandate for the 12th electoral term of the Assembleia da República .

In the European elections in 2014 , the PSD nominated her for sixth place in the right-wing liberal list association Aliança Portugal . The list connection won 27 percent of the vote, and thus seven seats for the 8th electoral term, whereupon Monteiro de Aguiar moved from Parliament in Lisbon to Brussels on July 1, 2014. In the European Parliament , she and her list colleagues joined the Group of the European People's Party . For the entire term, Monteiro de Aguiar was a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and an alternate member of the Committee on Fisheries .

In the 9th parliamentary term, Monteiro de Aguiar is one of four vice-chairs of the Committee on Fisheries and a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism . She is also part of the delegation for relations with South Africa and deputy in the delegation for relations with Canada.
