Johannes Böhm (politician)

Johannes "Hans" Böhm (born April 8, 1890 in Hochspeyer ; † July 18, 1957 in Leonberg ) was a German trade unionist and social democratic politician.

Böhm initially completed an apprenticeship as a furniture polisher. Later he worked in the metal industry. From 1906 he was a member of the free trade union German Woodworkers Association . He later switched to the German Metalworkers' Association . From 1911 he was also a member of the SPD. In the Weimar Republic he was a member of the works council of Friedrich Krupp AG in Essen. From 1928 he was managing director of the General Association of Public Enterprises, Transport and Goods Traffic in Bielefeld.

During the National Socialist era, Böhm was an innkeeper in Bielefeld .

From 1945 Böhm was involved in rebuilding the unions in Bielefeld and the province of Westphalia . From 1946 he was a member of the zone committee of the trade unions. From 1947 he belonged to the executive board of the DGB in the British zone and from 1950 to the executive board of the federal government.

Böhm was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in the first legislative period from 1947 to 1950 . In 1947/48 he was also a member of the zone advisory board . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1949 until his death. In 1949 he was directly elected in the constituency of Bielefeld - Halle . In 1953 he entered the Bundestag via the SPD's state list . In the election of the first President of the Bundestag on September 7, 1949, he was proposed against his will by the KPD and received the 15 votes of this party.
